Our Story

 

Tying Up Loose Ends (TULE) was first established in collaborative conversation in February 2020 when a group of dedicated, passionate and like-minded women understood the high level of anxiety in the community around the ultimate fear of death and dying.

 

 

 

Our mission

 

TULE acknowledges that anxiety around death is universal and our objective is to educate our community, from school aged children right through to the ageing population that death is a natural part of life.  It is the normal cycle of nature, of all living things.

 

TULE provides compassion and comfort whilst discussing these anxieties and the gaps in end of life resources.

Our Volunteers

Christine Elcoate

End of Life Death Walker, Reiki Master, Celestial Healing Coat Commissions, Specialised Shroud Maker using plant dyes to help with the Journey Home.   Being a professional Artist she makes or works with Shroud Mementos Workshops, facilitating workshops with her client who is going through the dying process and their families, making special memories together before death, or with families after death.   

Jancine Hurst

A practicing End of Life Doula supporting people who are nearing end of life and their families. They usually want help preparing for their death, and quite often wish to die in their own home.  Jancine provides practical, emotional and spiritual support that is customised to their individual needs.

Laylee Jerman

Has spent most of her career as a Registered Nurse, spending the last 30 years in Mental health.  Due to her background in the health system she is a passionate advocate of normalising death, in a society which tries to save life at all costs, often denying its members the dignity of dying.  She has a hypnotherapist practice,  Beyond Quantum Healing, and Trauma resolution healing. 

Fleur Adamson

Death Celebrant, Counsellor, is an ‘End of life Advocate’ who uses Conversation Starter Cards to help break the ice about having that challenging conversation to ensure that your family knows of your future wishes. I want families to be aware that there are choices in celebrating the life of their loved one.

Lynne Hume

An Anthropologist, researcher and writer, and Honorary Consultant with The University of Queensland. One of her abiding interests is in cross-cultural ways that people deal with death and dying, and the associated spiritual dimensions. She is also interested in how funerary practices change over time

Jim Straker

 Justice of the Peace (Qualified).  Jim can also provide online JP service for assistance for End of Life Documents e.g. EPOA and AHD

Patricia Cranney

Crisis Support Officer, Counsellor (Bachelor of Counselling) specialising in Community grief and post-disaster trauma (such as fires, floods) throughout Queensland. As a retired Community Health Nurse and a trained Gestalt therapist, Tricia is also involved with community education on suicide and Post Tramatic Stress Disorder.
